Lin Jingzhen, former vice-president of the Bank of China, is under investigation for suspected severe violations of Party discipline and national laws, the country's top anti-corruption watchdogs announced on Tuesday.

The announcement was released online by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision. No further details were disclosed.

Lin, 60, a native of Fujian province, graduated from Xiamen University in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in economics. He obtained a master's degree in business administration from the same university in 2000.

He had worked at the Bank of China for decades, holding several senior positions including general manager of the bank's financial division and vice-president of its Hong Kong Holdings Ltd. In 2018, he was appointed vice-president of the bank.

Earlier this year, Lin resigned from his posts at the bank.
